In May I joined a media tasting and vineyard tour at Texas Heritage Vineyard in celebration of their Spring Wine Release at their lush Estate Vineyard!
Winery founder, Susan Johnson, and Winemaker, Tyler Buddemeyer led a tour of the stunning vineyard and the wine production facility, discussed their winemaking processes, poured a flight of the new vintage, and gave a barrel tasting of their Souzao (it is already showing nicely). This was such a unique experience to taste soon to be released wines while relaxing among the barrel and raising a glass to their recent awards from the Houston Rodeo!
I also loved the candid and educational discussion, learning more about how Texas Heritage Vineyard came to be as well as learning more about talented people behind it, getting a taste of their exceptional new releases plus barrel tasting, and taking in their gorgeous vineyard. Cheers to 100% Texas wine!
These are the new releases we tasted:
2022 VERMENTINO – Notes of citrus, almond and lightly floral on the nose. Lime and green apple on the
pallet.
2022 ESTATE LIZZIE ROSE’ – Malbec grapes, hand-harvested. Notes of strawberry and rose petals on the nose. Light melon and strawberry on the pallet.
2020 TEMPRANILLO – Cherry on the nose with hints of cedar. More deep cherry and red fruit on the pallet. Earthy. One of my favorites!
2020 CABERNET SAUVIGNON – Black fruits and tobacco on the nose, with slight hint of bell pepper. Black currant and blackberry on the pallet with hints of spice.
2020 OLD 300 Grapes from Texas Heritage Vineyard – A blend of Alicante Bouschet and Malbec. Red fruits come in loud and clear on this blend. Easy on the pallet with an earthy, warm finish.
Make sure to visit their tasting room off of 290 for darn good Texas wine and check their calendar for the live music schedule, cheers!
