Isla Now Serving Brunch with Island Influences

Paloma at Isla

Full disclosure: I attended an Instagram meet-up at Isla and received a complimentary brunch. All opinions are my own.

Isla is a Caribbean cantina serving up island-inspired food and drinks with Texas flair. Executive chef John Lichtenberger, chef de cuisine Roman Murphy and bar manager Miguel Lopez keep Isla\’s menu fresh and exciting which compliments the restaurant\’s lively Island inspired atmosphere.
We checked out their newly launched weekend brunch menu which is available every Saturday and Sunday. Each dish we tried was absolutely incredible and the cocktails top notch. We stared off brunch proper with mimosas. Guests get a choice of traditional, passion fruit or prickly pair mimosas and they are only $5 during brunch. Here is a look at some of the new brunch menu items:

Tamales at Isla

The savory tamales at Isla are topped with two perfectly cooked sunny-side-up eggs.

Pork Shoulder on Hawaiian Rolls at Isla

This decadent dish is tender pork shoulder on top of sweet Hawaiian rolls topped with a delightful jalapeño mustard mornay.

Sweet Potato Biscuits with Chorizo Gravy at Isla

The sweet potato biscuits with chorizo gravy is the ultimate savory & sweet brunch item.

Johnny Cakes & Shrimp at Isla

We couldn\’t get enough of these Johnny cakes & shrimp topped with perfectly cooked crumbled bacon and habanero honey.

Some of our other favorites is the tantalizing ceviche trio, the to die for bananas foster french toast with rich rum syrup, creamy goat fondito served with fresh guacamole & warm tortilla chips and the Paloma made with house made grapefruit soda & lime.

Brunch is available Saturday & Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. In addition Isla has an exceptional happy hour Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 4-7 p.m. and all night on Wednesday offering 1/2 off select food and $5 cocktails.

Wednesday: all night You can make reservations at Isla here.
