The Local Post Now Open on Burnet Rd

Full disclosure: I attended a complimentary tasting at the Local Post. All opinions are my own.

The Local Post officially opened on January 18 on the popular Burnet Rd corridor. The comfortable space has been revamped into an inviting neighborhood pub and family-friendly restaurant (see hours) located in the heart of Crestview. Guests will find Texas comfort food, excellent happy hour specials, ample free parking, indoor arcade games, spacious patio and big-screen TVs.

Some of the menu features exude comfort food at its best to include Smoked Brisket Sliders, 10 lb. Can Nachos that come in three styles – “The Traditional” with refried beans and guacamole, “Texas Stack” with pulled pork and caramelized onions, and “Frito Pie” with Texas chili. Do make sure to order the nachos as the show is just as good as the tons of creamy cheese and crispy chips! The Chimichanga with smoked brisket, pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, and topped with roasted tomatillo cream sauce do not disappoint. The restaurant offers burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads, and seasonal desserts from neighboring Quack’s Bakery.

Here is a look at some of the menu items we sampled during a recent tasting:

Brisket Sliders at the Local Post

The Smoked Brisket Sliders are on a sweet doughy bun and topped with melted Monterey Jack cheese, pickled onions and a black pepper barbecue sauce giving it a little kick.

Bacon and Cheddar Burger at the Local Post

The hearty Bacon and Cheddar Burger is served on a delicious pretzel bun and has crisp lettuce, slices of tomato, onions served with  choice of regular or curly fries. Guests may also add an egg for $1.50.

Lemon Garlic Hummus at the Local Post

For a lighter, option I recommend the delightful Lemon Garlic Hummus served with soft pita and crisp carrots.

Blackened Tuna Sandwich at the Local Post

One of my favorite bites of the evening was this generously portioned Blackened Tuna Sandwich. The nicely seasoned tuna is on a puffy brioche bun topped with a unique avocado slaw, tomatoes and an addicting Jalapeño Lime Aioli.

Chimichanga at the Local Post

The sizable Chimichangas at the Local Post are no joke! You can have your choice of Tex-Mex, Pollo Blanco, Al Pastor or the Mexicano. Add some more deliciousness by adding chili.

Happy Hour Cocktail at the Local Post
While the restaurant is family-friendly from 11am to 5pm, the space transitions to a lively 21-and-older hot spot in the evening. The Local Post is open daily from 11am to 2am providing a hearty lunch, an enticing happy hour, dinner, tantalizing bar food and late night bites. Happy Hour is Monday – Friday from 3pm-7pm offering $3 domestic pints, $5 local Margaritas and $5 Local Ladies cocktail.
