Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary meal at Abuelo\’s Mexican Restaurant. All opinions are my own.
In the age of small plates and light bites, it is refreshing to visit a restaurant who offers both dishes on the lighter side and hearty offerings such as Abuelo\’s. Abuelo\’s Mexican Restaurant takes creating exceptional cuisine, with incredible service at an approachable price point seriously. The restaurant team prides themselves on quality service and aim to create a memorable experience for their guests. That includes exploring in the kitchen and developing new recipes that truly delight. I dined in recently and enjoyed their three new limited time offerings that are specific to the Austin area…and if they do well you might just find them on the regular menu at your Abuelo\’s! The spacious restaurant with expansive patio is perfect for any occasion to include game day.
Here is a look at there three exceptional LTO items:
 |
Chicken Breast with Enchiladas at Abuelo\’s |
I enjoyed all three dishes but the Chicken Breast with Enchiladas ($11.99) was my absolute favorite. This dish has a lightly fried chicken breast topped with savory green chili sauce, queso and sour cream and plated with the most perfect hand rolled cheese enchilada covered in Colorado on top a bed of Mexican rice and a side of their famous charro beans.
 |
Chicken Mole at Abuelo\’s |
Mole lovers will be delighted by the rich Chicken Mole ($14.99) at Abuelo\’s! The chicken breast is sautéed then baked to perfection, covered in a mouthwatering mole sauce made Pueblo style with some tantalizing spices. The side of cilantro lime rice perfectly compliments the dish.
 |
Chicken Rosado at Abuelo\’s |
The Chicken Rosado ($11.99) is a chicken breast stuffed with goodness to include roasted red bell & poblano peppers, fresh spinach and melted Monterrey jack cheese topped with their flavorful made from scratch Rosado sauce served with perfectly cooked cilantro rice.

Skinny Margarita at Abuelo\’s |
The variety of margaritas has something for everyone, I particularly like their Skinny Margarita (pictured). In addition they have a fine selection of wine and brews.
