Texas Monthly BBQ Fest 2019

Last weekend was the tenth annual Texas Monthly BBQ Fest Weekend, celebration of all things Texas BBQ. The annual BBQ-filled weekend includes 30(+) of the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas and is one of the BEST Texas food festivals.

I live in the greater Austin area accessible to my favorite Austin BBQ spots, so this year I decided to focus on some of the BBQ joints outside of the area during the main festival. The gorgeous weather, incredible talent and supportive community added to the amazing energy of the event.
Blood Bros. BBQ
Newcomer Pitmaster Quy Hoang of Blood Bros. BBQ made a standout debut at the festival with a creative BBQ with Vietnamese flavors:
~ Thit Nuóng Pork Belly Burnt Ends
~ Mac & Sleaze Sausage
~ Peanut Brittle
Guess Family BBQ
Miller\’s Smokehouse, Hutchins BBQ, Guess Family BBQ

Guess Family Barbecue was one of my favorites of the day serving up a Pimento Cheese Deviled Egg topped with Brisket Jam, Smoked Buffalo Wing and Garlic Cheddar Beef Sausage.

Miller\’s Smokehouse sliced up their brisket, sausage and handed out gingersnaps.

I was excited to finally try the famous Hutchins BBQ famous \”Twinkie\” and it did not disappoint.

Bodacious Bar-B-Q, Hays Co, Heim, Terry Blacks
Bodacious Bar-B-Q Mobberly trifecta (second from the bottom left) had a sweet note with al pastor pork belly burnt ends, chorizo/Oaxaca sausage, and Mexican hot chocolate brownies. I know a few folks went back for second rounds of their delectable brownie creation.
Welcoming guests as they entered the grounds of the Long Center were Hays Co BBQ along with Guess Family Barbecue out of Waco. Hays Co (top right) team nailed hospitality as they kindly delivered their brisket, sausage and creamed jalapeno corn to GA attendees inline.

Killen\’s Cherry Habanero Pork Belly Burnt Ends was pure bliss.

Heim Barbecue Brisket

Heim Barbecue Burnt Ends
Heim Barbecue was another standout, I couldn\’t get enough of their burnt ends, brisket and twice baked potato salad.

Truth BBQ impressed with their classic yet delicious Sausage, Brisket and banana pudding.

Roegels Barbecue Co. Whole Hog Sundae had a fun presentation and was gobbled up quickly.

Smolik\’s Smokehouse

Smolik\’s Smokehouse served their brisket and sausage withe a side of cabbage that was a hit at our table.

Stiles Switch

I stopped by Stiles Switch and had a chance to chat with @barbcuewife and get a taste of their brisket.
Tyler\’s Barbecue

Tyler\’s Barbeque
It was a family effort at Tyler\’s Barbeque out of Amarillo Texas. Tyler\’s served up glistening ribs, flavorful brisket and classic mac n cheese.
