Rythm on the VineTM at Carter Creek Winery Resort and Spa |
We spent a weekend in at Carter Creek Winery Resort and Spa and found it to be the perfect getaway for the whole family. From award-winning wines, exceptional Texas beer from the onsite Old 290 Brewery, excellent food and amazing live music, we smiled through our entire stay.

Our welcoming villa was perfect for my husband, pup Nala and myself. Carter Creek Winery Resort and Spa has a thoughtful Happy Hounds program and provided the sweetest welcoming pack for our Nala while we were delighted by the Sparkling wine awaiting us in our villa.
There is ample outdoor space and areas, to include pool, overlooks, grand yard with spaced out seating and shaded park benches in the dog walking area.
When we visited the wine tasting, brewery and dining experiences were offered outdoors and their serene property is perfect for it. We enjoyed a wonderful Texas wine tasting overlooking the Hill Country. We loved all of the wines with the 2017 Maverick being our absolute favorite.

The newly released Maverick is a Rhône style blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Counoise. Notably their winemakers are Jon McPherson, Kim McPherson and Javier Flores. The McPherson brothers are son of “Doc” McPherson, considered the pioneer of Texas modern wine industry, and each has made a huge impact of their own. Javier Flores, who also inherited his love of the wine industry from his father, earned his degree as a Biochemist Engineer from the Tecnologico de Tijuana. Javier and Jon met in California and now they are working their magic right here in Texas.
The Old 290 Brewery beers led by Head Brewer Justin Zimmerman are equally impressive. My favorites are the Oatmeal stout with America Oak and a soon to be released American Brown Ale with vanilla and bourbon notes as Garrison Brother barrels were part of the casking process. Beer flights are definitely the way to discover the seasonal favorites.
In addition, the Old 290 Brewery has a full kitchen with some excellent dishes. We recommend the SW Caesar Salad, The mouthwatering Old 290 Burger (we added bacon and cheese), the Texas Twist Pretzel and do try their incredible pizzas.
Pro Tip: Early sunrise is magical time at Carter Creek Winery Resort and Spa. Rise early and you will be treated to a morning on their porch overlooking the pool with a cup of coffee and breakfast while gazing over the budding vineyards.
