The Grove Wine Bar Opens in Lakeway

Today was opening day for The Grove\’s newest location in Lakeway. I decided to indulge during lunch by leaving the office to check out this new restaurant for meatless Mondays.

The former Mizu location has transformed into The Grove with their signature modern colors and walls of wine on display. With a wine wall like this it is no surprise that the wine list is exceptional. They serve wines by the glass, flight and bottle.

I had an opportunity to speak with Reed one of the owners. He shared in preparation for opening the staff attended two weeks of seminars covering both food and wine. The employees I encountered knew the menu inside and out and my waiter Renee mentioned that during training they tasted nearly all the dishes they serve. Opening day was well orchestrated and my experience was flawless.
Considering it was meatless Monday I bypassed the sesame crusted ahi tuna, ceviche with red fish and shrimp and the seared miso glazed sea bass and opted for the salad and soup special. This special offers your choice of side salad and choice of soup. Reed\’s salad is a fresh spinach and spring mix with caramelized pecans, feta and a rich honey balsamic vinaigrette. I chose the light and chilled watermelon based gazpacho for my soup which is reminiscent of a mouth watering watermelon basil salad. Their side salad and soup runs a mere $9.
There is ample seating at The Grove and both the bar area and patio are perfect for an after work happy hour or a casual gathering with a group.
