Upon arriving at Gardner I was impressed with the welcoming patio and loved the beautiful woodwork. The restaurant is cool and crisp with subdued hues of grays and light colored woods.

| Gardner\’s Semi-Private Dining Room |
Gardner offers a semi-private dining room that seats up to 10 guests. There is also a cute booth slightly hidden in a nook. The regular dining room feels small and intimate.

| Gardner – Potatoes |
While their seasonal menu relies heavily on vegetables, you will also find quality meats in some of their dishes. Currently they are serving dishes with monkfish, chicken (skin) and dry aged beef. We started our culinary experience with the potatoes off the \”bites\” menu. The bites are truly small portions but are priced accordingly. The delicious potatoes was a clever mix of whey, pickled ramps with a rye crisp. The dish was extremely simple yet the flavors together were complex.

| Gardner – Fluke Crudo |
We then opted for the fluke crudo off the \”first\” menu. The crudo had delicate cuts of fluke with meticulously placed fennel, marigold and huckleberry.

| Gardner – Root Vegetables |
For our entrees we ordered the root vegetables and the dry aged beef. The root vegetables felt very clean, light and delicious. A fermented broth is poured table side over the splendid mix of seasonal root vegetables.

| Gardner – Dry Aged Beef |
The dry aged beef had an incredible depth of flavor. The tender cut of beef served with zucchini, black garlic and kale was an exceptional dish. Each dish felt light with simple farm-to-table ingredients while delivering excellent flavors. Our only regret was not trying one of their house made desserts.

Gardner serves a variety of unique wines heavily from regions of Italy, Spain and France. They also pour a small selection of ciders and beers.

Last month Gardner launched happy hour on their bar and patio area only. Happy hour is offered Monday-Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The discounted menu includes $2 snacks, $2 off wines by the glass and $2 off beers.
