Honey Cheddar Scones |
Ever since my first dining experience at the Say LaV food trailer, I was enamored with Chef Allison Jenkins\’ cuisine and Sommelier Vilma Mazaite eloquent ways and knowledge of wine. When the LaV restaurant opened Executive Pastry Chef Janina O’Leary joined the team. Chef Janina who is a 2013 James Beard Award Semi-Finalist in the “Rising Star Chef of the Year” is a graduate of The French Culinary Institute with a Grand Diploma in Pastry Arts. Her talent shined at many prestigious restaurants in New York City and continues to shine right here in Austin Texas. Enjoying Chef O\’Leary\’s pastries and desserts is pure bliss.
My mother-in-law wanted to treat me to a birthday brunch and asked me to pick somewhere special. LaV instantly came to mind. Our lovely brunch started off with honey cheddar scones and hand rolled croissants. Both were served with delicious butter and a delightful apple thyme jam.

Hand Rolled Croissants |
The hand rolled croissants had light notes of butter and had the perfect doughy crust. While the apple thyme jam was absolutely delicious the croissants were so flavorful that no butter or jam was required.

Chicken Liver Pâté |
The house-made chicken liver pâté was incredibly rich and packed lots of flavor. The pâté was topped with peach preserves and accompanied by toasted brioche, mustard and tart cornichons.

Bibb Salad with Green Goddess Dressing, Radish and Pickled Spring Onions |
For my entree I ordered the bibb salad with mildly sweet bibb lettuce, house-made green goddess dressing, radish and pickled spring onions. The salad is simple yet delicious. You can taste the quality of all the fresh vegetables. LaV has their own garden, \”Jardins de La V\”, which will officially open on June 16th. The Garden party on opening day will feature 4 courses with optional wine pairing. After that they will have bi-weekly picnics in the garden and other events.

My mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed her farm egg frittata served with fresh veggies to include asparagus, melted leeks, morel mushrooms and made savory with chevre.

I am a huge fans of rosé wines especially in the warmer months. The Love Drunk Pinot rosé is a beautiful light sparkling rosé that paired nicely with the pastries and desserts.

I was in awe and incredibly excited as a trio of gorgeous desserts paraded their way to our table. The macarons ranged from slightly savory to sweet and each tasted fabulous. The days offerings included a delightful pistachio with a surprise sweet strawberry jam at the center, a \”snickers\” macaron dipped in chocolate and nuts and a playful French toast.

Banana Ice Cream with Sea Salt Caramel |
Our waiter shared that the “bananas foster” is his favorite dessert and after taking one bite it was easy to tell why. The \’bananas foster\” has vanilla cake, an incredible bourbon banana ice cream, sea salt caramel topped with candied hazelnuts and torched meringue. This dessert had everyone nearly in tears, it was that delicious!

Last but certainly not least we enjoyed Chef O\’Leary\’s cute birthday eclairs with decadent Funfetti pastry cream and a rich chocolate butter cream. From the fabulous cuisine to the excellent service I had an incredible dining experience at LaV and highly recommend.
LaV just relaunched rosé brunch just in time for the hot Texas months. Other happenings include the grand opening of their garden June 18th, Say laV making a return this summer in the garden and several events to include their first ever Bastille Day celebration on July 14th.
LaV offers specials during Après Midi & laV Late Night to include 25% off cuisine from their bar menu from 5:00–6:30 PM Tuesday – Friday and 9:30 PM–Close Friday & Saturday. Wine Wednesday is also a wonderful night to join LaV and enjoy $7 glasses of white, red and bubbly 5:30 PM-6:30 PM and 1/2 off hundreds of bottles form 5 PM-7 PM.

Allison Jenkins is the daughter of sandy and Kay Jenkins of Corsicana, her parents embezzled 17 million dollars from the Collin street bakery and likely funded their daughters planned restaurant. Awful awful dishonest family. Embarrassment of Corsicana. Kay Jenkins is a narcissistic monster that drained the life out of her husband.
