SPUN Ice Cream Serving Up Frozen Treats

The Crackerjack at SPUN Ice Cream

Full disclosure: I attended a media preview event at SPUN Ice Cream and received a complimentary scoop. All opinions are my own.

Sisters Christina and Ashley Cheng are opening the doors to their new concept SPUN Ice Cream in east Austin on December 16th. The local business also includes several of their friends and family members making for a dynamic group with great synergy. The new ice cream shop is unique as it specializes in fresh seasonal flavors spun to order using liquid nitrogen. They use top notch ingredients such as organic cream, milk from a small Texas dairy farm and all the ice creams are gluten free. The flavors launching on opening day include vanilla bean, dark chocolate (dairy free), popcorn and gingerbread. Customer can pair the delicious creations with their handcrafted toppings such as chocolate shell (dairy free), peanut brittle, caramel popcorn sprinkles (gluten free), brown butter powder and meringue snow (dairy free).

I sampled the gingerbread with meringue and also their current special, the Crackerjack. The quality ingredients and process makes for a super smooth, creamy and delicious frozen treat with vibrant flavors. The Crackerjack”: Popcorn ice cream with peanut molasses brittle, caramel popcorn sprinkles and brown butter powder and as a bonus the first 200 customers get a surprise toy with their Crackerjack ice cream.
