Northern Italian cafe Uncle Nicky’s located in Hyde Park launched an enticing new weekend brunch menu. Brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and kicked on Saturday, June 8.
The menu includes lighter and shareable items, to include a light yogurt parfait with fresh berries, delicious overnight oats, mouthwatering griddled peaches with ricotta and crispy ham, delightful mini ricotta pancakes, and a savory focaccia pizza with meatballs. Entrees focus on egg dishes, including the Eggs Dominico with poached eggs, focaccia, prosciutto cotto, fontina hollandaise; truffled eggs with a coddled egg, truffle cream, served with toasted focaccia for dipping; and an Italian omelet made with prosciutto, salami, and fontina cheese. Other delectable menu items include the Breakfast Italiano with Italian sausage, two fried eggs served with toasted focaccia; and the hot mortadella sandwich with a sunny egg, provolone, griddled onions, pepperoncini, and Duke’s mayo. The chilled shrimp with basil pesto and the Wagyu beef carpaccio from the restaurant’s popular all-day menu will also be available during brunch.
I dined in recently to explore their new brunch menu and was delighted by the variety of offerings! Pictured are the:
- Chilled Shrimp with a light basil pesto, herbs and lemon
- Italian Omelette, a hearty egg dish stuffed with prosciutto, salami, fontina cheese and topped with sweet peppers and basil
- Richly flavored Carpaccio with Wagyu Beef, fresh Arugula, pecorino and croutons

Hot Mortadella is a great deal at $7. This sandwich has sunny egg, provolone, griddled Onions, pepperoncini and Duke’s Mayo on a house-made bun
