The food and wine pairing at Ab Astris is an immersive experience led by their in-house sommelier and executive chef, Mitchell Sharrock. He is a one-man-show who will be preparing and serving your food, pouring your wine, and walking you through each pour and the food he has chosen to pair with it. This experience includes 5 wines with a corresponding food course, all made fresh with locally-sourced ingredients. Their goal with this experience is to show you what their wines taste like when being sampled alongside other flavors and textures, in an effort to give you an idea of how they might fit on your family’s dinner table.

Pedernales Cellars

Every Saturday Pedernales Cellars invites guests to join for live music outside from 1pm-5pm. Reservations are required for tastings, which are held on their patio weather permitting. Lawn seating is also available with first come first serve seating to enjoy a bottle. They do have a limited amount of lawn seating so we do permit you to bring your own chairs.

Spicewood Vineyards

Date: Friday, August 7th from 6:30pm-8:15pm

Every first Friday of the month, Spicewood Vineyards owner, Ron Yates, invites a musician to join him at the vineyard for a night of songs, wine tastings, and some untold stories from the vines. The evening begins with a few songs from their special guest that week, and then, they join Ron to taste through three different wines. Ron and his guest will talk about tasting notes and winemaking, along with music and songwriting. The Friday Night Wine Downs are meant for people all over the wine spectrum to join.

For those who would like to taste along they offer the three packs of wine for purchase online or at the vineyard. The online event itself is free via the Facebook Page or by subscribing to their YouTube Channel. On August 7th, musician Graham Weber and in person tickets make be purchased from the winery..

As we approach harvest season, William Chris Vineyards invites you to join them at one of their upcoming 2021 Grape Punch sessions taking place at the vineyard in August. The sessions, led by the winemakers at William Chris will feature a mini learning workshop focused on harvest and the winemaking process, including techniques for transforming grapes to wine – from the vine to the bottle. 
During Grape Punch, guests will be able to scrub up and punch down grapes. Finish your visit by taking your “grapey” hands and stamp your own Grape Punch t-shirt to take home. Grape Punch takes place at William Chris Vineyards, located at 10352 U.S. Highway 290, Hye, TX, 78635. Want to grab lunch after? You can book a picnic pack after the event and enjoy at Hye Estate!

Last month, William Chris Vineyards launched the Wanderer Series Relief Project II, which features a new wine benefitting Feeding Texas, created in collaboration with Texas sommelier and Emmer & Rye Wine Director and Manager Ali Schmidt, with a mission of supporting and nourishing Texas families in need as they get back on their feet following the pandemic and the devastating Texas winter storms. 

The wine is available on WCV’s website HERE, as well as from the following retailers in select locations across Texas: H-E-B, Spec’s, Central Market, Kroger, Whole Foods Market, and several independent bottle shops throughout Texas.
