Daichi Sushi & Grill

Daichi Sushi & Grill is a true hidden gem tucked away inside a shopping center in Cedar Park. The restaurant has gained popularity throughout the community over the past few years primarily by word of mouth. Daichi is owned and operated by Tomo and Keita Koike whose native country is Japan. The duo are extremely hands on and clearly know Japanese cuisine. Tomo takes care of the front of the house while Keita works his magic in the kitchen and sushi bar.

Their menu consists of traditional Japanese Cuisine to include sashimi, udon, soba, kushiyaki and nontraditional Americanized rolls and appetizers. Two of my favorite dishes are the sashimi style jalapeno hamachi and the tuna tataki. The jalapeno hamachi dish consists of delicate cuts of fresh hamachi drizzled with a tangy chili and yuzu sauce and dressed with jalapeno and golden tobiko. The tuna tataki is topped with scallions and garlic and served with their house sauce that compliments the flavor of the mild tuna.

Daichi is both a family restaurant and an izakaya. Izakayas are drinking establishments where people gather after work to relax, drink sake and enjoy food. The sake menu is extensive and includes the tasting profiles and suggested food pairings.

Not only does Daichi offer an excellent happy hour they also have great deals throughout the day to include \”happy lunch\” and \”happy night\”. The happy lunch menu offers specials while highlighting many of their popular dishes. Happy night is essentially an extended late night happy hour. If you are dining in during lunch on a Saturday make sure to check if they have ramen. Occasionally the kitchen makes a very limited batch of Tonkotsu shoyu ramen for their Saturday lunch crowd.
