If you are searching for that perfect place for an excellent happy hour, Sunday brunch or an exceptional dinner look no further than Fonda San Miguel. The restaurant opened their doors nearly 40 years ago and continues to have a loyal following. Their food is authentic and the interior exudes of old world charm.

I recently attended a Dia de los Muertos happy hour and was impressed with the delicious appetizers, top notch margaritas and impeccable service.

For Dia de los Muertos Fonda San Miguel decorated their beautiful restaurant in honor of their loved ones. They had a traditional alter lined with vibrant marigolds, sugar skulls and family pictures.

During the happy hour we tried four exceptional appetizers. The ceviche de langosta y mango are tortilla chips topped with sweet wild Candian lobster marinated with citrus and mango juice topped with a mouth watering mango salsa and creamy avocado.

 This was my first time trying sopecitos and I simply could not get enough! These small pastries are filled with a variety of delicious ingredients to include salpicon de pescado (fish), camaron (shrimp) y guacamole and nopalitos (cactus).

 I loved everything we tried but I would have to say the tender cordero (lamb chops) served with chile pasilla salsa was my favorite dish. The baby lamb chops were both perfectly seasoned and cooked.

Angels on a horseback were also a crowd pleaser. This appetizer includes three plump grilled shrimp with white cheese and wrapped in both alapeno and bacon served with escabeche.

Happy hour is all night on Tuesday at the bar and lounge area and includes 1/2 off select appetizers, $4.95 margaritas and $4.95 select wines. They also have happy hour Monday, Wednesday and Thursday offering $1 off on appetizers and $4.95 margaritas.
