Austin\’s First Shake Shack Location Opens on South Lamar

Shake Shack South Lamar

Full Disclosure: I recently attended a media event at Shake Shack with complimentary tastings. All opinions are my own.

Austin\’s first Shake Shack opened their doors today on south Lamar! They kicked things off with a preview party on May 4th with live music, adult beverages, samplings of their dishes and plenty of swag.

Adult Beverages at Shake Shack

Shake Shack got the party started proper with Shack wines, ShackMeister Ale and The One They Call Zoe (beer) from Austin\’s own Hops & Grain. I tried both the Shack Red and Shack White wine made especially for Shake Shack from Frog\’s Leap out of Napa Valley. The Shack White was light, refreshing and perfect for patio weather. Th Shack Red pairs beautifully with the Angus beef burgers.

Shake Shack seamlessly incorporates Austin themed menu items, local beverages and is proactively giving back to the community by partnering with the charity Austin Pets Alive.

The Lockhart Link Burger at Shake Shack

I started off with the incredible Lockart Link burger. This hearty burger is 100% all-natural Angus beef topped with melted cheddar cheese, griddled Kreuz Market jalapeno cheddar sausage topped with their signature ShackSauce and pickles. The sausage added a moderate level of heat and the flavors of the quality Angus beef shined through.

Smoke Shack at Shake Shack

I tried a couple of bites of two other burgers, the SmokeShack and the \’Shroom. The savory SmokeShack is a cheeseburger topped with perfectly crisp applewood bacon, chopped cherry pepper and Shack Sauce. The rich flavors of the all natural bacon pairs harmoniously with the lean Angus beef burger. The \’Shroom burger is an absolutely delicious vegetarian option! It is a deep fried portobello filled to the brim with gooey muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with fresh slices of tomato with some added flavor from the ShackSauce. The portobello has great texture (not oozy or greasy like other portobello burgers I have tasted) and the technique they use to fry it leaves the burger tasting more like it is encrusted and then baked.

Fries at Shake Shack

Their crinkle cut fries are made with Yukon potatoes and contain no artificial ingredients. These salty fries are fried to a golden perfection and served perfectly crisp.

Uchi Koncrete at Shake Shack

The Uchi-Koncrete is a sweet collaboration with Uchi/Uchiko with Shake Shack. This decadent dessert is vanilla custard with heavenly chunks of Uchi & Uchiko miso hazelnut blondies swirled with a delightful huckleberry jam.

Shake Shack Interior

Remarkably the decor ties in nature and the outdoors with their floating planters and living green wall. This is just another touch of how they are embracing the Austin community who loves to enjoy the great outdoors.
