The Generous Pour at Capital Grille |
Disclaimer: I attended a complimentary tasting at Capital Grille. All opinions are my own.
If you are looking for an exceptional dinner with fine wines this month then look no further than Capital Grille! Capital Grille has an exciting annual event appropriately named \”The Generous Pour\”. From early July through the end of August diners can enjoy a customized tasting from their 7-8 excellent wines for $28 that are featured during the Generous Pour. *Note: TGP is offered with the purchase of dinner. This year all of the wines are from eight outstanding women winemakers taking the industry by storm. Checkout the Capital Grille website for a complete listing: The Generous Pour wines.
During the dinner and the Perfect Pour tasting I indulged in five of these fabulous wines. The first three wines we enjoyed with a variety of tantalizing appetizers to include decedent prosciutto wrapped mozzarella and miniature lobster & crab cakes. We started off with the Gallerie \”Naisssane\”, Napa Valley Sauvignon blanc. This brightly flavored wine has a wonderful aroma of white peach, pink grape fruit and jasmine.
Next we were treated to the Barrymore, Monterey Pinot Grigio. Given the name you may have already guessed that the proprietress of this refreshing wine is Drew Barrymore. This pleasant wine has hints of Asian pair and a nice minerality. I found this to be an approachable bottle with unique flavors making it a stand out Pinot Grigio.
Cambria \”Julia Vineyard\”, Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir was my favorite glass of the evening. I have tasted wines from Cambria so I knew we were in for an exceptional experience. This lush Pinot Noir comes from a single-estate winery. I loved the red fruit and dark berry flavor notes of this incredible wine.

Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon at Capital Grille |
Stonestreet \”Bear Point\” Alexander Valley Chardonnay was smartly paired with the perfectly seared citrus glazed salmon. I am a fan of Cabernet and Pinot Noir from the Alexander Valley and was excited to try a Chardonnay. This florally Chardonnay was awarded 95 point by Robert Parker.
A had a sip of the incredible Mt. Brave, Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley which was beautifully paired with the bone-in Kona NY strip. This bold wine has notes of roasted espresso, blackberry, anise, and violets.
