Aviator Pizza & Drafthouse Lands Second Location on South Congress

Owners Jon and Ana opened their second Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse location today on South Congress. The first location located in Elgin, TX has received rave reviews and after our first visit to the Austin location, I guarantee their shiny new SoCo location will follow suit. Opening a location in Austin which is full of beer loving and pie loving folks was the obvious place to expand. The pizza and brewpub showcases a gorgeous specially made tap system that is pouring Texas craft beers.

Guests can take their favorite beers home with them as  they sell and fill growlers to go. In addition to beer, the bar also serves wine on tap as well as from the bottle.

Coming soon will be the addition of picnic tables on the patio expanding the beer garden experience outdoors and in true Austin fashion it is dog friendly. Indoors has a cool aviation theme with a cool beer garden vibe.

The menu consists of favorites from the original location sprinkled in with some specialty Austin themed menu items to include the South Austin Pizza, Greenbelt Salad, pecan pie bread sticks and blueberry bread sticks. From doughy pizzas and calzones made with 26 year starter from the family\’s Tennessee restaurant and fresh ingredients, amazing salads, choice of buffalo or BBQ wings, delectable charcuterie boards and their decadent desserts, you will be pleased with their delicious eats that pair nicely with their beer and wine selections. Here is a look at what we tried during their soft opening:

Geenbelt Salad at Aviator Pizza & Drafthouse

We started off our dining experience on the lighter side with a generously portioned salad. The Greenbelt salad is a splendid mix of lettuce topped with perfectly grilled chicken breast, red onions, portabella mushrooms, feta cheese and pecans.

Margherita and Greek Pizzas at Aviator Pizza & Drafthouse

The pizza dough on their specialty pizzas and calzones is some of the best I have tasted! The toppings include house-mad sauces, fresh made dough and some of the freshest ingredient. We tried The Greek and the classic Margherita and absolutely loved both pies.

Cinnamon Blueberry Dessert at Aviator Pizza  & Drafthouse

Save room for dessert as their cinnamon desserts topped homemade cinnamon base and drizzled with homemade cream cheese icing is the perfect happy ending to your meal. Both the pecan dessert and blueberry dessert are new to the menu. The cinnamon blueberry dessert we indulged in paired perfectly with a glass of wine.

Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse is a true gem and a welcomed addition to the Austin food scene.
