Sway Celebrates their 4 Year Anniversary

Front Patio/Waiting Room Oasis at Sway

Full Disclosure: I attended a complimentary tasting of the 4 year anniversary menu at Sway. All opinions are my own.

In early December Sway celebrated their 4 year anniversary at their South 1st Street location. Sway has become a true staple in Austin\’s culinary scene and this south Austin gem was nationally recognized by Bon Appétit Magazine who named Sway one of the \’50 Best New Restaurants in America\’. The handsome modern Thai restaurant serves their cuisine family style/shareables making for an intimate culinary experience as everyone at the table can partake in each dish.

Kitchen View at Sway

The charming outdoor patio is full of ambiance with gorgeous wooden tables, lush greenery and sparkling lights which make for an enchanting dining experience. Inside guests can choose between large communal tables, the majestic bar or prime seating at the chef\’s table facing the kitchen.

For their anniversary week Executive Chef Martin Wilda cultivated an incredible limited-time menu featuring dishes like red fish curry, chiang mai pork sausage, and persimmon spiced cake. We tried a few of the specialty dishes  and loved them all, we are hoping chef decides to make a few of them mainstays! These special features along with their main menu showcase the exceptional talent that the kitchen at Sway is known for.
Here are is a look at the dishes we tried:
Pla Thuna Khrib at Sway
We started the celebration off with Pla Thuna Khrib. Being a fan of sushi, I was enamored with this delightful dish! The dish consists of delicious tuna tartare, a refreshing citrus vinaigrette, Thai chili, quail egg served with lime segments and addicting spiced melba. The Thai chili adds a heat element to the dish while the creamy quail egg adds a cooling factor making for a beautifully balanced dish.
Kaeng Pla at Sway
The spice Kaeng Pla stole the show! This beautifully executed spicy red fish curry is the perfect blend of flaky red fish, sweet corn, bamboo shoot, papaya and coconut served with a comforting bowl of rice.
Kaeng Hmu Samchan at Sway

Kaeng Hmu Samchan at Sway
Kaeng Hmu Samchan has incredibly tender pork belly, hunglay curry and aromatic jasmine rice. I highly recommend ordering pork belly anytime it is on the menu at Sway as it is the most perfectly prepared pork belly I have tasted.
Hazelnut Chocolate Bar at Sway
The Hazelnut Chocolate Bar is a brilliant pairing of vibrant flavors! This perfected dessert has  grilled grapefruit, decadent chocolate sorbet, cool coconut yogurt, macadamia nut, peanut butter and Grand Marnier.
While you may not see these dishes on the menu you will love the cuisine at Sway. Just a few of customer favorites include the Son in Law, Jungle Curry, Pad Thai, XO Mussels and Tiger Cry. The restaurant serves plentiful vegetarian offerings and gluten free options. In addition to the à la carte menu, Sway offers a variety of group dining reservations, all paired with one of their set chef’s menus. All group dining reservations require a minimum of 10 guests which may include Chef\’s menu consisting of favorites from the menu, Moo Sway which showcases a family-style feast, the Chef\’s lunch menu which is essentially a condensed version of the Chef\’s dinner menu and weekend brunch. Note: Most of the group dining reservations require a reservation/booking 24 hours in advanced.
Get excited north Austin, Sway will debut their second location at the Domain in 2018.
