Chef Mario Medina Adds Fresh New Dishes at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

Full Disclosure: I attended a complimentary dining experience at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar. All opinions are my own.

With the newest addition to the Mia Italian Tapas & Bar team brings fresh new tapas and dishes to the menu. Chef Mario Medina has worked in some of the best restaurants (Malaga Tapas & Bar, Chavez, Parkside and La Politique) in Austin and other top foodie cities to include Las Vegas where he was sous chef at Jose Andres’ Jaleo in Las Vegas. Mia Italian Tapas was one of the first restaurants to open on Rock Rose and serves both Saturday & Sunday brunch and both lunch and dinner 7 days a week. They are known for their tantalizing tapas, comforting house made tapas, pizzas and bar program with seasonal cocktail offerings.
I dined in with a few fellow writers and got a taste of some of the exciting new menu items. Here is a first look:
If you have not been to MIA Italian Tapas & Bar or haven\’t dined in for a while, I highly recommend coming out and get a taste of the delectable new menu items and customer favorites.
Insalata Caprese at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar
The classic Insalata Caprese with mozzarella di bufalo D.O.P., vine ripened tomato and balsamic is the ultimate summery dish to pair with your favorite glass of wine.
Charred Octopus at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar
I cannot resist a good octopus dish and the Charred Octopus at MIA Italian Tapas did not disappoint! This incredible tasting tapas is plated with garbanzo beans, carrots and celery.
Roasted Beets at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar
Another summery dish is the Roasted Beets with orange, baby kale, pecans with a citrus mascarpone.
Tortellini at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar
House-made Tortellini with pork in brown butter citrus sauce was a crowd favorite! The pasta is perfectly cooked and the flavors beautifully balanced. 
Seared Salmon at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar
The Seared Salmon with Cauliflower and pickled onions is my favorite dish! The sear on both the salmon and scallops adds phenomenal flavors.

Seared Scallop tapas has 4 scrumptious seared scallops on top a corn medley and topped with crispy prosciutto.

Chicken Croquets at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

I enjoyed each bite of the comforting Chicken Croquets have bechaamel, carrots and celery.

Salmon Carpaccio at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

The vibrant salmon Carpaccio is a fun dish with delicate cuts of salmon with a little spice from the aioli and served with toasted bread.

Patata Brava at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

They tweaked their Patata Brava plating which has aioli and salsa brava which means their is delicious sauce with each marvelous bite.

Tortellini, Charred Octopus and Pork Belly at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

Another updated item is their rich Pork Belly now served with mozzarella polenta, salsa verde and vincotto.

Beef Skewers at MIA Italian Tapas & Bar

The Beef Skewers with with nicely charred tomatoes, grilled scallions and sweet pepper sauce is a nice addition to compliment the veggie centric tapas.
