Uncle Nicky’s |
Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary experience at Uncle Nicky\’s. All opinions are my own.
Uncle Nicky’s, a casual Northern Italian cafe, opened February 4th in Hyde Park. The new concept was created by the trifecta Chef Nicholas Yanes, owner and executive chef of Juniper, Brandon Hunt and Zane Hunt of Via 313 and Nickel City, and Nickel City partner Travis Tober. Chef Derrick Flynn helms the pastry program, Nick Intonti, formerly Chef de Tournant at Juniper, heads the cafe as chef and operator and they have partnered with Matthew Bolick of Wright Bros. Brew & Brew, Better Half, and Little Brother Bar on the coffee and espresso offerings.
I dined in at this fresh new cafe and was wooed by their aesthetic charming space, phenomenal cuisine inspired by Yanes travels to Italy and both their exceptional coffee and bar program.

Coffee and Pastries at Uncle Nicky’s |
I was especially delighted and surprised by the hand selected wines to include a vivacious Lambrusco. I walked in and was welcomed with the enticing aroma of espresso as I relished in the eye candy display of gorgeous pastries and gelato. The breads and pastries are made at Juniper and they are not to be missed!

I like how simple yet brightly flavored the Kale Salad and the Pickled Cherry Stuffed Peppers with mortadella cheese and provolone are.
This layered goodness is their generously portioned Prosciutto Cotto & Mozzarella sandwich with fresh tomato on their fresh perfectly baked focaccia.
If you want to getaway without pulling out your passport, come out and dine at Uncle Nicky’s.
